How to avoid life and growth

This week’s quote is from good, old C. S. Lewis, and it talks about the way to avoid life with God and growth in your Christian life:

Avoid silence, avoid solitude, avoid any train of thought that leads off the beaten track. Concentrate on money, sex, status, health and (above all) on your own grievances. Keep the radio (and the TV and the computer, we might add here in 2008). Live in a crowd. Use plenty of sedation. If you must read books, select them very carefully. But you’d be safer to stick to the papers. You’ll find the advertisements helpful: especially those with a a sexy or snobbish appeal
Torben – our lives and our character are, at the end of the day, a sum of our choices. Am I making choices that produce the life that I want to enjoy?
